Bankify wins Get in the Ring!

Get in the Ring boosts an extensive partner network in over 100 countries. The group’s unique format places selected startups in the ring to pitch. Startups compete against each other on a lightweight, middleweight, or heavyweight basis, dependent on their current
development stage. By hosting over 150 events per year, attended by entrepreneurs, corporates and investors worldwide, Get in the Ring connects startups to opportunities.
Following Vietnam and Germany, Bankify entered the Dutch market last February. The Netherlands is an appealing market for our digital banking solutions because of the relative maturity of the ecosystem. During the three days of Get in the Ring Netherlands, startups networked, met customers and connected with investors. Besides the possibility to battle on stage and receive investments, Get in the Ring invited selected startups to present their solutions to corporates’ business problems. Bankify was invited to join the session hosted by Robeco Asset Management. Along with 10 other startups we discussed how our solutions could help solve Robeco’s challenges. Following in- depth discussions, Robeco would announce on stage the startup to be partnered with.

Out of over 250 startups, a selection committee consisting of investors and business professionals selected Bankify to battle Etergo, an electric scooter startup, on stage as heavyweights. Intense minutes of battle-pitching, covering Bankify’s team, achievements, business model & market, financials & investment proposition and at last, freestyle, led to Bankify being crowned heavyweight winner of Get in the Ring Netherlands.

In tandem with the joy of winning the live battles, VenturesOne announced on stage to invest 250k in Bankify. Succeeding both achievements, Robeco Asset Management announced that Bankify was selected to further explore how our solutions support the corporate during a pilot.

Three very productive and successful days in Rotterdam also granted Bankify access to the Global Meetup 2019, hosted in Berlin. This three-day entrepreneurial retreat was attended by close to 450 visitors, 300 organizations and almost 150 promising startups who won the Get in the Ring battles in one of the other 100 countries.

Meeting such innovative startups from so many countries and sectors was an eye-opening experience. The first evening’s traditional German dinner at Hofbräu fueled the informal conversations, networking and matchmaking. The next day, Bankify participated in 1-on-1 meetings with startups, corporates and investors during the ‘Future Sessions Fintech’ at Alte Börse. Discussions with EY Global, Rabobank and UBS (among others) were continued during the evening’s dinner at SAGE beach. The last day was packed with an innovation tour and concluded with Get in the Ring’s distinctive battles.

Get in the Ring took Bankify from Finland to the Netherlands on to Germany. For us, participating proved very fruitful, resulting not only in exposure, investment and customer-cases, but also in an expansive network of startups at the forefront of technology.
